August 2008
August has a strange way of creeping up on me... Fairies have birthdays too you know! Needless to say, this month we’ll be celebrating with my dazzling herbal tincture. Before it slips my mind – a birthday month can only mean one thing: gifts!
There are some truly amazing figures behind Absinthe; at one point 36,000,000 litres were being produced in France every year! (Of massively varying quality, some of it lethal.) The huge quantities available and the fact that it was both cheap and terribly ‘en vogue’ led to the advent of ‘l’heur verte’ - ‘the green hour.’ Consumption became so heavy that Absinthe became popularly known as ‘une correspondance de Charenton’; a ‘one-way ticket to Charenton.’(The insane asylum on the outskirts of Paris.)

Last month I asked you to tell me about your incredible Absinthe experience. There were some interesting experiences to say the least but I have chosen and this months winner is...
...Gary Donnelly. Congratulations a bottle of Sebor is on it’s way to you as we speak!
The sun is out and this month we want pictures of you out enjoying it! So be creative-I’m giving you a blank canvass! And don’t forget a glass or 2 of Absinthe inspired some of the greatest artists! Our favourite picture at the end of the month will win a bottle so send me your pics so that we can continue to inspire you!
My connections in Venice have let me in on a little secret. Apparently Antica Raspberry Sambuca is taking over, becoming a massive hit. Even more exciting was their mention of a new flavour in the near future... Head over to the online store to sample the goods.
This month’s dash of tomato-infused, inspired liquid alchemy was submitted by a lady with lilac-coloured hair. (Seriously, she actually sent me pictures) Makes me green with envy... hmmm.
